Hartford and West Hartford, CT – Thursday was a jam packed day for Plan B Burger Bar. There is no greater honor for two local restaurant owners than a day that starts with an event at the capitol and ends with a big after party in West Hartford.

Plan B is a burger, bourbon and beer establishment with locations in Glastonbury, Simsbury, and West Hartford. Just in time for National Burger Day on May 28th, the restaurant won NBCConnecticut.com’s Golden Local award for the best burger in Connecticut. At 12:00 on Thursday, Governor M. Jodi Rell issued a congratulatory proclamation in honor of Plan B Day. (Proclamation pasted below.)

“I can attest to these burgers,” said Rell. “I go there with my family, my husband and my sister-in-law… When she asked me what the specials are, I told her, ‘There’s one specialty here – the burgers!’ My husband and I will split the stack of minis, and when it comes down to that last burger, we have to decide who can have it. Maybe I need to start getting two stacks!”

The House Minority Leader, Lawrence Cafero, introduced Plan B on the floor of the House of Representatives. Congratulations were offered to Allie Gamble, Founder and C.E.O., and Shawn Skehan, Co-Founder and Partner, followed by a round of roaring applause. Members of the House of Representatives enjoyed a special luncheon hosted by Plan B in celebration of the last day of session. Representatives milled around the floor during a break muttering, “This really IS the best burger I ever had!”

Thursday evening, Plan B threw an after party with some of West Hartford’s finest to celebrate National Burger Day with mini burger tastings, good music and good company. Craig from WCCC 106.9 was spinning and the buzz from the exciting events of the day amplified into full fledged celebration mode. NBCConnecticut.com managing editor, Andrew Pergam, presented Plan B with their official NBCConnecticut.com Golden Local award during the party. Fans, supporters, and NBC 30 staff celebrated into the night after live news broadcasts from the West Hartford location. At most recent count, well over 2,000 people signed up for the free mini burger coupon on www.planbburger.com.
