OLE PATROL

This is the time of year that dermatologists are inundated with women desperately booking panicky mole patrol appointments. Before treating age spots, check with your dermatologist to be sure that they’re not precancerous lesions that can appear quickly on the skin, change shape, become raised, or bleed.

ICE, ICE BABY

Would you believe us if we told you that there’s a secret weight loss solution in your home or office, that right now, can help you burn calories, rev up your metabolism, and reduce afternoon munchies . . . for free? It’s so incredibly easy, it’s scary. Drinking ice water can raise your metabolism, help you burn fat, and rid the body of toxins. Ice cold water that’s below 40 degrees Fahrenheit burns more calories than warm water because it lowers your body temperature. Once your body temperature is lowered, your metabolism must then increase to warm the body back to normal. Drinking eight 16 oz. glasses of ice water throughout the day will burn around 200 calories, the equivalent of running 2 miles! Ice water can also be very effective for reducing cravings, which will help you decrease calorie intake and ultimately shed some pounds. Ice water is best between meals and not with them, as it dilutes the digestive enzymes. While eating, try some herbal tea or warm water.

THE EYES HAVE IT

As if you need red irritated skin on top of your crow’s feet and puffy under-eye circles . . . make sure to use anti-aging eye serums that are created expressly for the delicate, sensitive skin around your eyes – an area that immediately reveals your age. Using facial creams that contain high levels of acids and other powerful ingredients can dry out the area around eyes, only causing more problems and more irritations.

 The Truth Behind Vitamin Waters

What’s All the Hype?

Should you trade up your plain old tap water for the new brands of vitamin power waters that are hitting the market? Let’s not dilute the facts. These fitness water brands claim that their infused concoctions deliver oxygen directly to the muscles, increasing energy and performance levels. But according to a recent study published by the International Journal of Sports Medicine . . .
